Below is a list of both in-person and online writer events that are open to subscribers of Canterbury Writers. We do the best we can to keep the listings up to date, but some things slip through the cracks.
Most of the events listed are in Christchurch, New Zealand and the greater Canterbury region, though we do occasionally list events located elsewhere within New Zealand.

This is a recurring event.Get writing! Bring your laptop. Or bring a notebook. However you need to do it, we are writing word by word. Writers in all genres, at all levels, are welcome.
Get energized by being around other writers who are all writing.
This group is strongly focused on actual writing, where everyone is working at their own pace. Occasionally, there will be some chats about writing-based problems, but that is not what this group is about. It's writing, because writers write.

This is a recurring event.The librarians at Tūranga are keen to have writers around. They have kindly created a space for us for Come Write-In session every Thursday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, with writing until 7pm, then taking a break to share tips, tricks, motivation and celebrate success. This is a free, drop-in event. So, join the community and connect with other writers. You'll find the space on the fourth floor. Just look for Fiona (Fee) Jay.
