All universities throughout the country have creative writing programmes, but there are some programmes that are not run by the universities that are just as highly respected within the New Zealand writing and publishing community.
The list below is of the writing schools and programmes that can be found outside of the universities.
Do you want to take your writing seriously and be guided and extended?
Since 2007, the Hagley Writers' Institute has offered a challenging and stimulating programme for adult writers in Ōtautahi (Christchurch).
Classes are held on Saturday mornings for 20 weeks. Students accepted into the institute are expected to make a serious commitment to their writing practice in addition to the Saturday morning classes.
